Philips Defibrillator Options

Our Philips HeartStart OnSite, FRx, and FR3 devices offer the inexperienced responder detailed audible messages to guide their use of the defibrillator. Philips reputation for meticulous human factor testing has allowed them to create a device designed to calmly lead responders; not to get in their way. The Philips AED devices will deliver a shock, if needed, within 10 seconds. Other AEDs can take up to 3 times longer to deliver the initial shock. The longer the heart has been in ventricular fibrillation the harder it is to restart. In addition, Philips is the only AED that has the technology to measure muscle impedance. There is no other device capable of modifying the amp level. This minimizes post event side effects caused by a shock that is too powerful, which in turn lessens long term side effects potentially caused by the shock from an AED. For over a decade, industries and workplaces of every size have selected Philips HeartStart AEDs for their emergency response programs. Please let me assist you in selecting the products and services that best suit you and your client’s needs.

Philips offers the best warranties in the business. The standard 8-year warranty for the OnSite and FRx AEDs and 5-year warranty for the FR3 AEDs is a reflection of our confidence in the quality and reliability of our AEDs. Our lithium manganese dioxide, long-life battery, has a 5-year warranty shelf life and 4-year installed life ready for use. The SMART Pads have a 2-year warranty, the Child/Infant Key for only the FRx & FR3 has a lifetime warranty, and all other additional accessories have a 1-year warranty. Prescription is required for the Infant/Child Pads and Keys.

AED Information

As you know, an AED is a user-friendly portable electronic device designed to detect cardiac arrhythmia. It resuscitates a victim by administering an electrical shock, stopping the arrhythmia, and allowing the heart to re-establish an effective rhythm. Early defibrillation has emerged as the most important out of hospital intervention. With growing recognition of the survival benefit provided by AEDs, it is likely that, like airbags, smoke detectors, and fire extinguishers, AEDs will be firmly established in the realm of public safety in the near future. Once the plan has been implemented or updated, it should be prominently endorsed and practiced periodically so that all employees are familiar with your protocol.

Survival Rate

The American Heart Association recommends defibrillation (delivering an electric shock to the heart) as quickly as possible for cardiac arrests occurring outside of the hospital. Timing is crucial as survival rate decreases 7-10% for every minute without immediate defibrillation, in conjunction with CPR. It often takes EMS professionals 8-12 minutes to arrive, but brain damage can start to occur after 6-8 minutes. After 10 minutes, resuscitation rarely succeeds. When AEDs are readily available, the lifesaving results can be dramatic. Consider this, nearly 15% of the 340,000 annual Sudden Cardiac Arrests in the United States occur in the workplace. Without the proper training and equipment, the survival rate is less than five percent. Facilities that are prepared to handle cardiac emergencies can increase the chances of survival to nearly 90%. These statistics do not include your customers, who would also feel confident knowing you are prepared to help them in the event of an emergency. Studies have shown that overall survival rates as high as 74% with the return to a normal quality of life can be achieved with an effective AED program in place.
